Bula Sia Friends! (Bula Sia is Fijian for Hello!) Emily and Amy here and we have some exciting news to share! We have been asked to go on a photo assignment for three weeks to a remote Fijian island, to live with a tribe and document their day to day lives as they work with Bridge the Gap Vorovoro Island! Bridge the Gap is a US based ethical enterprise that offers sustainable tourism to families and college students providing a total cultural immersion experience that changes lives not only for visitors but for island residents by producing income and building community. Our job on the island will be to photographically document the tribes, visiting families, students, and other guests as they interact and work with the community work Bridge the Gap is doing.
Bridge the Gap is hosting our stay on the island, including shelter, food, and boat transportation between islands. We are however, responsible for purchasing our flights and need to do so as soon as possible! It is so easy for us to get caught up in our daily lives and not feel as though we have time for adventure and growth. This is an opportunity — one we can not let slip away–to broaden our horizons as individuals and artists, not just mothers and businesswomen.
The cost for this is approximately $4500. We have raised a quarter of what we need to make this purchase! In order to raise the rest of the necessary funds Emily and Amy Photo is hosting an exciting giveaway! We hope to raise enough funds for the rest of our tickets, as well as, a project while we are on the island.
Here’s how it works: tickets are $25 each entry. One ticket equals one entry into one of three raffle prizes. You can choose from one of these three options:
- 2 to 3 hour event photography session with Amy and Emily. This is perfect for an anniversary, engagement, or birthday party. The session includes 200 plus finished high resolution digital images for you to keep. Put down your camera and enjoy the party! Let us capture all of those special moments. This package is valued at $500.
- A family session at location of your choice within 20 miles of Indianapolis. This package includes 50 plus edited high resolution digital images. These fun, intimate, and beautiful sessions capture your family in all of their grace and chaos. This session is valued at $350.
- An 11 x 14 photograph from our trip printed, matted and framed. There will be a posted selection of images to choose from. Once you make your choice we will prepare it for you and either deliver or ship it if you are not local. This is perfect for someone who wants to support our endeavors but cannot take advantage of our photography sessions.
The best thing about our giveaway is that everyone wins! Each person who purchases raffle tickets will receive a 5 x 7 print from our adventure! Upon our return we will post a gallery with a selection of images for you to choose from.
We are hoping that this will help us achieve our goals in not only getting to the island but helping it’s residents via our passion project. Any funds over the amount needed for our plane tickets will be used for this project while on the island. Many of the individuals and families on the island have never had a portrait taken for themselves. It is our goal to produce, print, and laminate family photos for each family. If we exceed donations beyond these two goals, we will use that money to purchase supplies to bring with us for the new school on the island.
